Snooker World Cup Returns!

Snooker World Cup will make its return in Bangkok, Thailand after 10 years! PTT-EGAT Snooker World Cup runs from 11-17 July, it will feature 20 two-men teams from different parts of the world, and the line up revealed today!


When Snooker goes world......
The event early began in 1979 with renamed World Cup and Nations Cup. However it discontinued started from 2002, the last winner is the Scotland team. Nevertheless, World Cup will be back in the summer ;-) Here is the fabulous line-up:
Top eight seeds:

1. Wales: Mark Williams and Matthew Stevens
2. Scotland: John Higgins and Stephen Maguire
3. England: Mark Selby and Ali Carter
4. China: Ding Junhui and Liang Wenbo
5. Australia: Neil Robertson and Steve Mifsud
6. Northern Ireland: Mark Allen and Gerard Greene
7. Hong Kong: Marco Fu and Fung Kwok Wai
8. Republic of Ireland: Ken Doherty and Fergal O'Brien


Host teams:
Thailand A: James Wattana and Dechawat Poomjaeng
Thailand B: Passakorn Sunwannawat and Thepchaiya Un-nooh 



Wild cards:
Germany: Patrick Einsle and Lasse Münstermann
Brazil: Fabio Luersen and Noel Rodrigues

Qualifiers:
Belgium: Bjorn Haneveer and Luca Brecel
Pakistan: Sahid Aftab and Muhammad Sajjad
India: Aditya Metha and Pankaj Advani
Afghanistan: Mohammad Rais Senzahi and Saleh Mohammad Mohammadi
UAE: Mohmmed Mustafa Shehab and Mohammed Al Joaker
Poland: Kacper Filipiak and Krzysztof Wrobel
Malta: Tony Drago and Alex Borg
Egypt: Wael Talat and Yasser El-Sherbini

The players are the two highest ranked in their own countries (according to professional World Rankings). The rankings of the top 8 seeds in the event are also according to the players' ranking. Unfortunately some snooker mega stars such as Ronnie O'Sullivan, Judd Trump will not participate in the event since their ranking are lower than Selby and Carter :-(


John Higgins & Stephen Maguire will represent Scotland to play in World Cup 
Thailand is the host countries and they will have two teams to be playing in the event! There are teams from different parts of the world :-) Would be interesting to watch them playing :-)

The 20 teams will be drawn into 4 groups, each group will consist of 5 teams. The best finished top 2 in the group will compete in the quarter-finals. Each match will include singles and double frames :-)


The draw of World Cup will be done in Bangkok in Monday, as well as the another Brazilian will be confirmed (confirmed!). It will appear very soon, so stay tuned to this post! ;-)
