PTC 7 (Kay Suzanne Memorial Trophy) Day 2 - Remember Paul Hunter

We lost Paul Hunter who died due to cancer five years ago - 9/10/2006. Rest in peace Paul and you will never be forgotten.

Paul Hunter and Matthew Stevens
Paul's best friend and pallbearer at his funeral Matthew Stevens won three matches today to enter to last 16. Stevens beaten Cao Yupeng, Mark Joyce and Ben Harrison to keep racing for the PTC 7 title. It will be a very meaningful victory if Stevens wins the title for Paul. Stevens competes with Ali Carter in last 16 on Sunday morning.

Two more Chinese players are returning on Sunday morning for last 16. They are Liang Wenbo and Li Yan. They may meet at quarter-finals if they are both through by beating Shaun Murphy and Jimmy Robertson respectively. Glad to see Liang raised his form before UK qualifiers start in November as he has dropped out top 32. Li keeps giving us surprises by beating big names.

Graeme Dott battled to the last 16 by winning two deciders over Steve Davis and Mark Allen. Dott will face the challenge from Jamie Jones which sent Ricky Walden and Mark Davis earlier today.

PTC 7 (Kay Suzanne Memorial Trophy) Day 1 - The Pink Army

Top players including Ronnie O'Sullivan, John Higgins and Stephen Hendry in pink shirts turned up at South West Snooker Academy for PTC7 (Kay Suzanne Memorial Trophy).

The Referees are in pink shirts too :-)
All the players playing in PTC 7 are wearing pink shirts in aid of a charity to raise money for Breast Cancer Cancer and House Children's Hospice. The event has been named as Kay Suzanne Memorial Trophy after Academy Owner Paul Mount's sister Kay Suzanne passed away due to breast cancer. The money raised will be sent to the two charities. Go to www.justgiving.com/BeatriceHiQ donate to Breast Cancer Care or www.justgiving.com/worldsnooker to donate to Haven House Children's Hospice.

Anthony Hamilton defeated the latest PTC winner, Neil Robertson 4-1 in the first round and 4-0 against Dominic Dale before losing 2-4 to Andrew Higginson. Hamilton had an impressive performance in the new season including reaching quarter-finals in Shanghai Masters. Higginson now faces Michael White in last 16 on Sunday.

The Rocket was safely landed
Ronnie O'Sullivan and Stephen Maguire were safely landed last 16 and will play against each other on Sunday morning. Ronnie won 3 matches today with only dropping a frame to Martin Gould in the last match - Ronnie seems to play really well in the PTCs to grab some points. Maguire beaten David Morris in last 32 who surprisingly defeated John Higgins in the previous round.
Mark Williams lost to Michael Holt in the first round
Stephen Hendry who just dropped out of top 16 had an amazing performance today. Unfortunately he lost to Joe Perry in decider in last 32 despite the fact that he made 123 in the match and also 112 against Stephen Lee previously. Gutted to see Hendry nearly make it to last 16. Amateur Kyren Wilson is the biggest surprise today. Wilson defeated Michael Holt who won 4-2 over Mark Williams earlier the day, Ben Wollaston and Tian Pengfei to reach the last 16. Perry and Wilson will meet in last 16 on Sunday.

UK Championship 2011 Draw

One of the biggest tournaments UK Championship will move back to Barbican Centre in York with a brand new format. The event takes place from December 3 to December 11.  (Updated: UK Championship 2011 Results/Draw, Live Streaming & Match/TV Schedule)

Higgins beaten Williams from behind to win the title last year
John Higgins won UK Championship in December right after his six-month ban to declare his return and regain his world number one spot. Higgins won the title by beating Mark Williams 10-9 after trialling 7-9.

The upper quarter of the main draw is as follow:

John Higgins v Rory McLeod

Stephen Maguire v Stephen Hendry
Ronnie O'Sullivan v Steve Davis

Judd Trump v Dominic Dale
Ding Junhui v
Mark Davis

Matthew Stevens v Marcus Campbell
Graeme Dott v Matthew Selt

Neil Robertson v Tom Ford

Defending Champion John Higgins is seeded number one but he has a tough draw. Higgins may face his fellow country man Stephen Maguire in last 16 and may play the winner between Judd Trump and Ronnie O'Sullivan in the quarter-finals. It is similar to Higgins' road to win the world title this year after beating O'Sullivan in the quarter-finals and Trump in the final. Indeed Trump v O'Sullivan will be a fabulous clash. Matthew Stevens who just getting back into the top 16 may face Ding Junhui in the last 16. A possible rematch for the Crucible final 2010 is set between Graeme Dott and Neil Robertson.

The lower quarter of the main draw:

Mark Williams v Joe Jogia

Stephen Lee v Ricky Walden
Martin Gould v Peter Lines

Shaun Murphy v
Li Yan
Ali Carter v
Robert Milkins

Mark Allen v Adrian Gunnell
Stuart Bingham v Marco Fu

Mark Selby v Ryan Day

The new reigning world number one Mark Selby is seeded at the bottom of the draw which may meet top16 new comer Stuart Bingham in last 16. Last year runner-up Mark Williams could meet again Shaun Murphy in last 8, after their meeting in semis last year if both of them are through.

Qualifiers Draw can be found here. Since Stephen Hendry dropped out of top 16, he needs to win one match in order to qualify for the main draw. Hendry may face Gerard Greene, Jimmy Robertson, Kurt Maflin or David Hogan in his qualifying match. The qualifiers will be held at South West Snooker Academy in Gloucester from November 6 to 9. Tickets will be available for qualifiers - for details please visit http://www.southwestsnookeracademy.com/tickets-uk.html
